Hiraeth: Longing for a home that never was

About Me

My journey of writing began when I was 12, with a poem titled ‘Divyanshi’. Well, that is my name and of course the 12-year-old me thought it would be cool to describe myself on a piece of paper. But what I didn’t know at that time was that I would soon have over 200 original poems written. All of those poems are today safely tucked away in a huge blue folder kept on my bookshelf. I could release them out in the open, but each poem has a part of my soul that I am not yet ready to share with the world.

And yet, we are humans and humans love telling, and listening to stories. There are certain stories that I want to tell, which is why I opened up this blog in the first place.

Writing is more than just putting some words together for me. It is an emotion, that gets deeper with time. It is this love for writing that led me to choose English Literature as my major in graduation, and it is this passion for telling stories that I became a journalist. Having worked with two leading news channels of India, I decided that it was time for me to quit reporting facts and dedicate all my time to writing fiction.

As a journalist, I primarily covered the most glamorous field of all- Entertainment. Now that I have quit my job and moved to an entirely different field, I have decided to write about films, not for any channel, but myself. And for my dear readers who have so often liked/commented on my pieces.

This blog is dedicated to all those who have been supported me all along and would like to continue reading my pieces. I might not have the name of a news channel associated with me anymore but I do have the experience, and the vigor needed to be an independent entertainment journalist. Guess there’s no taking out of the Bollywood buff that is inside of me.

Apart from movies pieces, this blog also contains fictional stories based on real incidents. Yes, you heard that right. Let me know if you can connect with any post and I would be more than happy to hear your story. Reach out to me on social media, or my E-mail.

Wishing much love to every writer out there,

Thanks for your time,

Divyanshi Sharma
